There is a saying in some circles:

Not drinking will not make you live longer. It will just seem longer.

Kidding aside, studies are studies. They deal with other people, not you. Moving off alcohol, which is a serious topic, to nutrition, our metabolisms are different. All diet studies are based on data, big or small, but individuals vary, so diets that may appear to work on one, will not work on another’s metabolism. It isn’t diets, but lifestyle that as a whole affects obesity or fitness. Back to alcohol: other than extremes, it isn’t the amount, it’s the total picture of what else one does in life, plus that wildcard, metabolism, plus genetic weakness of organ like heart and liver. Should you try to reduce risk? Absolutely. Will Medium articles bring you a longer life? I doubt it, so blanket statements, from doctors or lay people, should be evaluated in the context of your own life. Crossing the street can kill you! Especially in France, Hamish.
